What is the difference between Lamb and Mutton?
Technically, lamb is meat from a sheep that is younger then one year. Mutton is meat from a sheep that is older then one year.
According to Laughing Goat Fine Meats, lamb is meat from a sheep that ranges from 10 months to 20 months. Young sheep mutton is meat from a sheep that ranges from 21 months to 36 months. Sheep mutton is meat from a sheep that is older then 31 months.
Our criteria is based on our pastures and how our animals mature in size. Our herd is pasture raised and pasture finished therefore our animals grow at a natural growth rate.
